Does City and Colour mean a lot to you? When you listen to their music, do you find yourself wishing you could thank them for everything they’ve done? Whether it’s relentlessly touring, planning meet & greets, hanging out after the show to talk to fans, giving to charities, holding contests or making incredible music, Dallas and the boys are some of the most generous musicians ever, and they deserve some praise. That’s why we started Body in a Box: Letters to City and Colour - to remind them that the fans truly appreciate all they do for us. Of course, the more the merrier. If there’s anything you’ve ever wanted to tell them and never had the opportunity to put it all out, here’s your chance!

HOW IT WORKS

Just mail us your letter and we’ll do the rest. Feel free to decorate the envelope if you’d like - it’s going in the book, too! Once we receive your correspondence, we’ll turn it into a page in our book, a design inspired largely by badbooks’ mail book. We’ll stick the envelope your letter came in to the front of an envelope, like so:

And your letter will be placed safely inside the envelope, which will be clasped shut to keep anything from spilling out:

We’ll then put the envelope containing your letter in our binder, which we’ll present to the band ourselves at a future show.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

Letters, photos, drawings, poems, small nonperishable, noncombustible, nonhazardous items, mix CDs, and anything that can lay neatly in a standard 9”x6” manila envelope. Be creative and have fun with what you send. Anything you think the band would like is welcome and encouraged.

WHAT WE WON’T ACCEPT

Suggestive propositions, explicit photos or poems, anything liquid, anything flammable, weapons, living creatures, bulky items. Your letters will be proofread and screened for any inappropriate content. If it contains anything we deem explicit, flirtatious, violent, rude, belittling or unnecessary, it will be disposed of. Of course we acknowledge that City and Colour is comprised of some handsome gentlemen, but the project serves only to thank them for their music and generosity, not their physical appearances. If you have any questions about what you’re sending, feel free to contact us at our ask page or email us at colourandcity@gmail.com.

FAQs

  • Where do I send my letter?

email us at colourandcity@gmail.com for the address!

  • What if I’m not comfortable having my address shown to the band?

We’d be happy to black out your address on your envelope if you’re uncomfortable having it given out. Your privacy is very important to us. Simply include a note with your letter to let us know that you’d like your address hidden.

  • Can I email you a letter instead of mailing it?

Of course! If you’d rather send your letter via email instead of snail mail, just send it to colourandcity@gmail.com and we’ll print it out for you. Let us know if you’d like your email address shown in the letter.

  • Is there a deadline? When should I have my letter sent to you by? When when will the book be given to the band?

At present, we have no deadline, so take your time preparing everything you need. City and Colour is not currently touring, but when they announce dates, we will give a deadline. We are more than willing to travel not only for a show, but to make sure the project is received by the band.

We will be updating this blog regularly with photos and information as the project progresses, so be sure to follow us and check back! As always, if you have any questions about the project, don’t be shy - we’d love to hear from you.

Happy 30th birthday to Dallas Green!

fuckyeahdallasgreen:

Dallas is 30th, today. My mistake, guys! I had just read his date of birth and I think that’s why I typed 29 instead of 30! Hah!

first off, greetings to our new followers! we’re thrilled to see you, and we hope to hear from you soon. but that brings us to a new point…

we’re hearing from a lot of you that you’re eager to contribute, but you’re having a hard time putting how you feel into words. we wanted to let you know - THAT’S FINE! it’s something we totally encourage you to take your time on, because it’s hard to put yourself out there like that. take as much time as you need to make your letter perfect and don’t be afraid to speak from the heart. there’s no rush, we promise! we’re putting in just as much time and hard work as you to ensure that this book is the best it can be, because city and colour certainly deserves it.

don’t be afraid to get others involved, too! if you have friends or family members that you think would like to participate, encourage them to do so - the more the merrier.
